Crafting Expertise Through Experience

My journey into counseling and therapy has been shaped by my experience as a corporate executive, attorney, and meditation teacher.

I earned my Juris Doctor in 1997 from Washburn University School of Law. After earning my degree, I became licensed in Texas and began a career in civil rights law at the famed Texas Civil Rights Project. From there, I honed my legal skills in a variety of legal positions, eventually serving as General Counsel for an energy company where I worked for 20 years, leading a team of professionals.

Bridging Law and Psychology

Driven by a passion for helping others, I pursued a Master of Education in Counseling & Development at Lamar University, blending legal expertise with psychological insight. This foundational training provided me with a comprehensive understanding of human behavior and mental health.

Specialized Certifications for Specialized Needs

Recognizing the complexities of relationships and intimacy, I then sought specialized training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and became a Certified Sex Therapist through the Sexual Health Alliance. Additionally, my certification as a court-approved mediator further enhances my ability to facilitate constructive dialogue and resolution.

Holistic Approach, Modern Solutions Using Mindfulness Training

For over three decades, I have immersed myself in the practice of Buddhist meditation and mindfulness, offering modern solutions for stress reduction and personal growth. I formerly taught meditation when I lived in Austin for 20 years. This holistic approach forms the cornerstone of my therapeutic philosophy, blending evidence-based therapy techniques with mindfulness practices to foster resilience and well-being.

Championing Progress and Inclusivity

I value open-mindedness and celebrate diversity. I am a proud member of the “Hate Has No Home Here” movement (www.hatehasnohome.org) and am 100% committed to creating a non-judgmental space that stems from a deep respect for the unique backgrounds and beliefs of all people without exception.
